Dr. Esperanza Camargo, Ph.D.

 

Esperanza Camargo is an assistant professor of criminal justice in the School of Public Affairs, Imperial Valley at San Diego State University. She teaches migration and violence, crime and behavior, and violence against women. Her research focuses on violence against women and children, human rights, trauma, and migration. She has published in both Spanish and English, lately, in journals such as Revista Colombiana de Sociología and Revista Española de Investigación Criminológica. In addition to her academic experience, she has been involved in policy development regarding homicide prevention, the eradication of poverty, and the promotion, protection, and defense of human rights in Colombia.
